About the Role


We are working with a respected General Contractor in the GTA that are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Estimator to join their growing construction team. The Estimator will play a key role in analyzing project requirements, preparing accurate cost estimates, and supporting competitive bids for ground-up construction projects. This position requires strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, cost breakdowns, and estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project specifications.
  • Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
  • Collaborate with project managers and the pre-construction team to develop budgets and proposals.
  • Assist in preparing bid packages, tender submissions, and presentations for clients.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry pricing, market trends, and construction methods.
  • Support post-bid reviews and handoff meetings with project teams.
  • Track historical cost data and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of estimating experience in the construction industry, preferably with ground-up new build projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and cost structures.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, OST, ProEst, Sage, or similar) and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
